March 1, 2025

We understand that many of you are experiencing challenges with the loan application process, and we want to provide you with the clarity and support you need. As part of the NELFUND team, we are committed to assisting you in resolving any issues you may face. Below, we’ve addressed some of the most frequently asked questions to help guide you through the process.

1. Why Haven’t I Received My Payment Yet?

If your loan has been verified but you haven’t received your payment, we understand your frustration. Please keep in mind that there can be delays due to several factors, including high volumes of applications and internal processing times. If you’ve been verified and your payment is pending, please remain patient, as payments are often processed in batches.

2. What Should I Do if My Loan Is Verified but Not Approved?

If your loan application has been verified but not yet approved, it could be due to missing information or an administrative delay. We recommend reviewing your application to ensure all details are complete. In some cases, if verification is pending for an extended period, it could indicate issues that need to be resolved with your institution.

To resolve this and get the approval process moving, please reach out to your institution’s NELFUND office, or email us directly at clientsupport@nelf.gov.ng for further assistance.

3. What Happens if I Missed the Application Deadline or Want to Apply for a New Session?

It’s not too late! If you missed the previous session’s application window, don’t worry—you can still apply for the next academic session. Ensure that all the required documents are submitted before the new deadline, and if you’re uncertain about the process, feel free to ask your institution for the exact dates.

4. What to Do if You’re Seeing “Missing Student Record” or “Information Not Found”?

If you encounter an error message like “Missing Student Record” or “Information Not Found” while applying, it likely means that your institution has not updated your records correctly in the system. This can be a common issue, but it’s easy to fix.

To resolve this, please get in touch with your institution’s NELFUND office to verify your records.

5. Can New Students Apply Without a Matriculation Number?

We understand that new students may not have their matriculation numbers yet. If you’re a new student and haven’t received your matriculation number, you cannot apply for the loan since your records is not yet on the portal.

6. How Long Does It Take to Get the Loan?

The processing time for your loan can vary depending on factors like application volume and institutional procedures. Typically, once your application is verified, it may take some time before your loan is approved and payments are made. We understand the waiting period can be frustrating, and we encourage you to check your status periodically.

If your payment is delayed, please reach out to your institution’s NELFUND office or email us at clientsupport@nelf.gov.ng for assistance.

7. Can I Edit My Loan Details on the Portal?

Unfortunately, once your application has been submitted, you may not be able to edit certain details on the portal. If you need to make changes, such as correcting your bank account information or personal details, please reach out to the NELFUND office at your institution. Alternatively, you can email us directly at clientsupport@nelf.gov.ng for guidance on how to proceed.

8. Why Is the Portal Not Updating New Entries?

If you notice that your portal is not reflecting new updates, it could be due to a technical glitch or browser issue. To resolve this, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser.

9. What Happens if My Loan Amount Is More Than My School Fees?

In cases where the loan amount exceeds your school fees, the excess funds are typically credited for personal upkeep. If you haven’t received your upkeep payment, we understand that this can be a concern. Please reach out to your institution for updates on when the upkeep will be disbursed, or contact us at clientsupport@nelf.gov.ng for assistance.

10. Can I Reapply if My Loan Was Not Approved?

If your loan wasn’t approved for the previous session, don’t worry—you can usually reapply for the new session. Ensure that all the required information is accurately provided in your application. If you need further assistance or clarification, feel free to email us at clientsupport@nelf.gov.ng.
